Briefs: District nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for the 2-year term of the office of director of the Kane-DuPage County Soil and Water Conservation District. To be eligible, you must be of legal voting age and own or reside on land located within the boundaries of the Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District. To be considered for nomination as a candidate for the office of director, nominees must provide proof of residency or ownership of land located within the boundaries of the district. Interested people must respond by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the district's office, 2315 Dean St., St. Charles, during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Coupon book in the works

The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is seeking businesses to participate in this year's St. Patrick's Parade Program and Coupon Guide. The book will be distributed before and during the March 8 parade through downtown St. Charles, an event attended by an estimated 11,000 people. Coupon books are $50. Call (630) 444-0444.

Sign up for police academy

Registration is open for the Citizen Police Academy in St. Charles. Classes meet at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 4 to April 24 at the police department, 10 State Ave. Topics include criminal and narcotics investigations, court procedures, traffic stops and crime scene processing. Participants also will use a firearms training simulator and learn how to obtain fingerprints. The free program is open to anyone who lives, works or owns a business or property in St. Charles. St. Edward special auction

St. Edward Central Catholic High School will hold its 19th annual Tidal Wave Auction/Dinner Dance April 19 at the Stonegate Centre in Hoffman Estates. The theme will be "Puttin on the Ritz." All alumni, family and friends are invited to attend the event, which includes dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions. Proceeds will benefit scholarships, expenses and enhancements to the school.
