Lake County crash sends 1 to hospital

A collision between two vans Saturday in eastern Lake County resulted in one driver having to be extricated from the vehicle and taken by helicopter to a Milwaukee hospital.

The crash occurred at 9:30 a.m. A 2000 Honda Odyssey turning north onto O'Plaine Road from eastbound Route 137 struck a westbound 1999 Chrysler Town & Country in Green Oaks, police said.

The Chrysler driver was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. His condition was unknown as of Saturday afternoon.

According to police records, the Honda driver was cited for traffic violations. Three other people were taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries.
