ISU ends 11-game losing streak vs. SIU
Levi Dyer and Osiris Eldridge came off the bench to lead Illinois State to a 56-47 victory over visiting Southern Illinois on Saturday.
Dyer had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and 5 rebounds. Eldridge, who had three 3-pointers, added 13 points for the Redbirds (11-3, 3-0 Missouri Valley).
Anthony Slack pulled down 6 rebounds for Illinois State, which led 31-13 at the half and snapped an 11-game losing streak against Southern Illinois (6-8, 1-2).
The Redbirds were 21-for-50 from the field (42 percent), compared with Southern Illinois' 13-for-50 (26 percent).
Matt Shaw had a game-high 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and was the top rebounder with 18 for the Salukis. Randal Falker chipped in 13 points and had 8 rebounds.
Wichita St. 80, Bradley 73: P.J. Couisnard and Gal Mekel each had 19 points to lead visiting Wichita State (8-6, 1-2 Missouri Valley) over Bradley (7-8, 0-3). Jeremy Crouch and Andrew Warren each scored 19 points for Bradley.
Western Illinois 69, UMKC 62: David Jackson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and visiting Western Illinois (6-8, 1-2 Summit League) ended a 16-game losing streak to Missouri-Kansas City (5-11, 0-4). Jerryck Owens-Murrey had 14 points for the Leathernecks.
Memphis 90, Pepperdine 53: Doneal Mack scored a career-high 23 points, making seven 3-pointers, to lead No. 2 Memphis (13-0) over Pepperdine (5-10) for a school-record 40th straight home win. Memphis last home loss was Jan. 2, 2006, to Texas.
Kansas 85, Boston College 60: Darnell Jackson scored 25 points with 9 rebounds, and Darrell Arthur added 22 points in front of a surprisingly supportive road crowd to lead No. 3 Kansas (14-0) over host Boston College (10-3). Rakim Sanders scored 21 and Tyrese Rice had 20 for the Eagles.
UCLA 70, California 58: Freshman Kevin Love scored 13 of his 19 points in the first half and grabbed 14 rebounds for his seventh double-double, and No. 5 UCLA (14-1, 2-0) won at California (10-3, 1-1) to complete a sweep of the Bay Area schools in the opening week of Pac-10 play.
Georgetown 58, Rutgers 46: Freshman Austin Freeman scored 13 points and No. 7 Georgetown (11-1, 1-0 Big East), which entered the game leading the country in points allowed and field-goal percentage defense, improved on both numbers in a victory at Rutgers (8-7, 0-2).
