AMT mess solution is found in Fair Tax

I read your editorial on the alternative minimum tax, "AMT 'fix' show why we're restless, surly."

I think the editorial misses the big picture because it addresses a re-occurring problem of continuous changes to the federal tax code and the impact of those changes on taxpayers.

It does not address a real solution to the tax fiasco and the annual churn concerning tax laws in this country.

I believe presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has indicated there is a solution to these types of recurring problems with the tax system. It is called the Fair Tax Act (HR 25).

This proposed legislation would abolish the federal income tax, the AMT, the death tax, the IRS, the 16th Amendment, etc., and replace them all with a 23 percent federal sales tax, the Fair Tax (www.fairtax.org).

From the perspective of annual churn and waste of time for taxpayers and legislators, the Fair Tax would seem to be a very simple and straightforward alternative to the present system.
