Illini linebacker suspended

University of Illinois football coach Ron Zook said freshman linebacker Erique Robertson has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

Illinois spokeswoman Cassie Arner declined to give additional details about the situation late Sunday.

In a statement released Sunday evening, Zook said "there is certain conduct expected of the team, and there are consequences when players don't adhere to it."

He added that the team will, in his words, "continue to closely evaluate Erique's situation."

Robertson is a native of Maple Heights, Ohio.
