Number of questions a reason for concern
The answer is based on the question. What specifically can the village of Campton Hills do for you that you did not already have?
What exactly is the cost of the village, all departments, going to be and where specifically is the revenue going to come from?
Why has the village said it would never let the dissolution Petition on the ballot, and that it will continue to place three "puff ball" (as defined by the judge) referendums on the ballot forever.
Who is footing the bill for all of the village lawyers? Who is footing the bill for all objectors' legal bills and why?
Why did the village electoral board go into executive session when it was asked not to? Members not only refused to listen, it then lectured us.
Now the attorney general's office is investigating this violation and why the executive sessions were not recorded, as required by law. They acknowledged they had the tape recorder in the room yet they didn't turn it on. What other closed session meetings have not been recorded and why?
Excluding the Plato Township annexed properties, exactly what percentage of Campton Township was left to be developed and how does the village protect the former township residents? Exactly how is School District 303 affected positively by the village formation?
At a pre-election meeting with the League of Women Voters, the appointed village president told the nearly 200 in attendance that if people want out of the village, all they have to do is petition to get out.
At last count, over 14 subdivisions have filed or are in the process of filing for disconnection. Why do citizens who want nothing to do with this village have to spend tens of thousands of their own savings to try and disconnect while the village spends these same taxpayers' tax money to fight them? Is this right?
Nearly 4,000 people have signed petitions wanting out or dissolving the village. In April, 4,100 total voted. Are we to believe there are that many misguided, misinformed taxpayers?
Maybe, just maybe, the village should listen to the people.
