Briefs: Gas station robbed

A man pointed a pistol at a female clerk around 9:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Citgo gas station, 304 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights, and stole an undisclosed amount of money, police said. According to reports, the man approached the clerk's counter, pointed the gun and demanded money. She opened the cash drawer; he leaned over the counter, grabbed money out of the drawer and drove away in a dark-colored minivan, reports added. The clerk was not injured.

Apartment complex sold

The Park Place apartment complex in Hoffman Estates has been sold for $66 million. The deal for the three-building, 642-unit complex was brokered on Dec. 17 and finalized last week. BVF II Park LLC out of Boston, whose parent company is Berkshire Partners, bought the complex at 875 Pacific Place, near Bode and Barrington roads, from Park Place Apartments LLC of Barrington. There are apparently no plans to convert the apartments to condos. Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod said the new owners would retain that option under that past owner's agreement with the village. No one from the buyer or the seller could be reached for comment Wednesday.
