Police question suspect in Rolling Meadows burglaries
The Cook County sheriff's police has a suspect in custody who could be related to two residential burglaries in the past three months. Sheriff's police spokeswoman Penny Mateck said the incidents at single-family homes took place in late November and early January at the Plum Grove Estates, at Algonquin and Meacham roads, in Palatine Township. She said a few thousand dollars was taken in one instance, and jewelry and electronic equipment was taken in the other. "We do have a person of interest in custody," Mateck said. "We don't have anybody charged." Police took the person into custody Wednesday night, Mateck said. She said the sheriff's police detectives have been in contact with Rolling Meadows police, who have dealt with a dozen home and car burglaries since November in that town. However, Mateck said she did not know what Rolling Meadows was doing with that information. Earlier Thursday, Rolling Meadows police released a statement saying there was no new information on those burglaries. The police have been distributing fliers in the neighborhoods west of Route 53 to warn residents of the incidents.
