The people already have taken a stand

So it's time to take a stand on "gay marriage?" The majority of states already have.

In California, the will of the people was overturned by one judge.

This is not democracy. It is judicial fiat and it continues to undermine the republic. It is tyranny plain and simple. It is also patently unconstitutional.

Arguments to the effect the inability to marry constitute some form of discrimination simply do not stand up to scrutiny.

It is already illegal to discriminate in employment, housing or any other important arena of activity.

Simple contracts permit people to do with their property virtually anything they want to.

Most companies now provide health benefits to "partners" even while their policies generally do not provide some benefits to the children of traditional marriages.

Gay couples generally have far more expendable income and are actively sought by a corporate America as an important market segment.

The people have spoken, and while they are far more tolerant than those who constantly invoke tolerance, they believe the sanctity of marriage is reserved for one man and one woman.

Those who take such a stand can and should expect the usual torrent of politically correct venom from those whose tolerance is as thin as their logic.

To those who believe this is something that can be shoved down our throats by the usual tactics, take notice: This is the firewall, and the flames will go no further.
