State's attorney confirms grand jury in Peterson case
For the first time, the Will County state's attorney confirms a grand jury is investigating the disappearance of former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson's fourth wife and the death of his third wife.
The grand juries' existence has been widely reported. But officials have previously declined comment, saying the proceedings are secret.
State's attorney James Glasgow's office released a statement Thursday. It says the grand jury looking into the disappearance of Stacy Peterson and death of Kathleen Savio first convened in November. It's expected to continue for about four months.
The office also says Illinois State Police have investigated more than 1,900 tips since Peterson disappeared in late October.
The state's attorney's office says it is confident justice will be served.
