Commissioners seek input from Campton Hills residents
Now that it has been several months since Campton Hills established itself as a village, officials are looking to establish methods for gathering input from various community members.
Village Plan Commissioners discussed the impending plans which would include an advisory committee for the Wasco business area, as well as future public forums for community input.
According to Village President Patsy Smith, who will put together the advisory committee, several Wasco land owners have already expressed interest in participating.
It is expected that the committee would serve to advise the Plan Commission as to what businesses they would like to see in Campton Hills.
"Let's let people sit down and brainstorm ideas and come up with a plan for what they want," said Plan Commissioner Jay Richardson. "What I would expect from this is a broad overview of this area. What kid of businesses can you sustain?"
It is also possible that a member of the Plan Commission will also hold a seat on the committee to act as a liaison between the two groups.
Commissioners also considered the possibility of hiring professionals to assist with the community forums.
"If we do this ourselves, we have more of an inclination to spin our wheels in trying to put this thing together," said Richardson.
However, Smith pointed out that there is currently not enough money in the village's budget to hire a professional firm and suggested various organizations that may be able to assist for a lesser cost.
