Three people cut out of cars in Barrington Hills collision

A head-on collision Monday morning in Barrington Hills injured three people and forced police to shut down Route 62 in both directions.

Police responded to a report of a roll over around 7:59 a.m. and found a green 2003 Jeep Wrangler on its side and a black 2002 Lincoln Town Car lying in a ditch near the intersection of Routes 62 and 25, officials said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 37-year-old man from South Barrington, was extricated and taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. His condition and name were not released.

A 60-year-old McHenry man, who was a passenger of the Lincoln, was also transported to Sherman, where he was in guarded condition.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 49-year-old Algonquin woman, was recovering at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, also in Elgin, after she was cut out of the car at 8:40 a.m. She was listed in stable condition.

Officials reopened the road at 9:21 a.m.

Barrington Hills police declined to release the names of the people injured in the crash late Monday.
