Kitchen fire extinguished in Wheeling

The Wheeling Fire Department Friday morning put out a kitchen fire in an apartment at 515 S. Milwaukee Ave., disrupting traffic near Milwaukee and Dundee for a time, officials said.

The fire didn't spread beyond the kitchen, no injuries were reported and nobody was displaced, said Battalion Chief Charles Gallant.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, he said.
