FTD Group net income jumps by half

FTD Group Inc., the U.S. flower-delivery service based in Downers Grove, said second-quarter net income jumped 50 percent, sending the stock to its biggest one-day gain.

Net income rose to $9 million, or 30 cents a share, from $6 million, or 21 cents, a year earlier. Revenue was $155 million, FTD said today in a statement. FTD will release more detailed results Jan. 30.

FTD added $1.64, or 18 percent, to $10.97 as of 9:49 a.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading for the largest advance since the company's initial public offering in February 2005.
