Peoria man sentenced to 52 years in 'execution'

PEORIA -- A Peoria man has been sentenced to 52 years in prison for a 2005 murder after a judge declined to grant him a new trial.

Peoria County Circuit Judge James Shadid on Thursday sentenced 24-year-old Kyron Murdock to prison for first-degree murder in the death of Mark Walker.

Walker was shot to death while he sat in a car in what the judge called an execution.

Murdock's attorneys claim he was framed by a pair of jailhouse informants trying to cut time off their own lengthy sentences.

The judge disagreed and denied Murdock's request for a new trial.

Murdock's attorneys say he will appeal.
