Burlington crash sends at least one to hospital

A crash near Burlington, initially called in as a head-on collision, did not result in any fatalities, but at least one person was injured, police said Thursday.

The crash occurred at 9:54 a.m. at 11N135 Burlington Road, west of Plato Road.

Frigid conditions were partially to blame, police said.

"The roadway is extremely icy," said Kane County Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler. "There's a lot of black ice out there. Some of the roads you can't see the ice, but it's definitely there."

At least one person was being treated for injuries at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Gengler said.

More details were not yet available on the crash and police could not immediately confirm whether it was in fact a head-on collision.
