Aurora man tells police he took scrap for beer money
An Aurora man arrested on a theft charge this week told police he stole aluminum scrap from his neighbor's yard in order to buy a six-pack of beer, police said.
Dennis Volpicelli, 46, of 1532 Exposition Ave., was arrested near his home about 3 p.m. Monday on charges of theft less than $300 and criminal trespass, according to police.
An arrest report said a neighbor caught Volpicelli reaching over a 4-foot chain-link fence separating their yards for a scrap piece of aluminum.
After being confronted, reports state, Volpicelli told the neighbor and police that he stole the aluminum so he could buy a six-pack, presumably after selling off the scrap.
