Town hall meeting to address veterans tribute

The Patriot Committee of Dundee Township invites the community to an informational town hall to discuss the "Welcome Home Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Dundee Township Senior Center, 665 Barrington Ave. in Carpentersville.

Learn more about the planned Healing Field of Honor special event which will take place on Memorial Day weekend at Carpenter Park. The event will honor servicemen and women who served in Vietnam with a patriotic display of 1,748 American flags (one for each POW/MIA). The 3- by 5-foot flags will stand 8 feet tall in perfect rows and columns and allow event visitors to walk among the flags to pay tribute to the soldiers and veterans.

Numerous volunteers, sponsors and supporters from the community are needed to make this special event happen. Flags are available for purchase and can be dedicated to anyone. The purchase of a flag is not limited to honoring someone who served in Vietnam. Proceeds will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dundee Township.
