No other Asian Carp bodies found in fish-kill

LOCKPORT -- The tally's still one dead Asian carp.

Environmental officials say they haven't spotted any additional bodies of the invasive species as a fish-kill operation along the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal continues Friday.

Authorities announced Thursday they'd found a single Asian carp on the first full day collecting dead fish in the canal that leads to Lake Michigan. It's the closest a body of the voracious fish has been found to the lake.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Stacey Solano says it's possible more Asian carp will be identified in the operation that ends Saturday.

She adds there's no sense of inevitability that the Asian carp will reach Lake Michigan. She says the game is by no means over.
