Businesses to help food pantry, Toys for Tots
To lend a helping hand to area residents in need this holiday season, Havlicek Builders and Cabinets at Danada Studio West are collecting toys and food through Thursday, Dec. 17 at both Geneva locations.
Donations of new, unopened and unwrapped toys for infants through teenagers as well as gift cards are welcome, which will be distributed to local disadvantaged children by the Fox Valley Toys for Tots.
Also sought are nonperishable food items (new, unopened cans, jars, boxes and bags), which will be delivered to the food pantry at St. Peter Church in Geneva and used to feed the needy.
"During this season of plenty, it's important to remember those who are less fortunate than us," said George Havlicek, owner of Havlicek Builders. "And this year, with the down economy, more people are suffering than ever before. Even a small sacrifice can make a big difference in the lives of others."
Donation bins for each cause will be clearly marked and placed inside the entrances at Havlicek Builders (Suite J) and Cabinets at Danada Studio West (Suite H), both at 321 Stevens St. in Geneva.
Donated items can be dropped off at either business between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
"Toys for Tots and St. Peter's food pantry are both such worthy causes that are making a big impact in our community," said Diane Bohstedt, kitchen designer for Cabinets at Danada. "It's our goal to have an abundance of donated goods ready to pass on to them. But we can't do it without your help."
