Crash shuts down Rt. 41 in Gurnee

Route 41 south of Route 21 in Gurnee was closed for an undetermined time Thursday night, as a wrecker tried to remove a semitrailer truck from Gurnee Woods Forest Preserve.
The truck ended up there after an accident with a minivan at 3:45 p.m. on southbound 41, according to Gurnee fire officials. The truck crossed a median and the northbound lanes before entering the woods on the east side of the road.
A woman driving the minivan was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Further details, including the identities of the drivers and the cause of the crash, were not yet available from police Thursday evening.
