St. Charles parks officials thankful
I am writing on behalf of the Board of Park Commissioners and staff of the St. Charles Park District to extend my thanks to park district residents for their support of our recent referendum.
We are grateful for this vote of confidence and we will move forward in an expeditious manner to complete the approved projects.
Our first priority is to complete specifications for the development of the Campton Hills Pool Complex, which we hope to bid by September 2008. We envision construction taking approximately one year and anticipate the facility will open in June 2010.
Pottawatomie Pool will be closed in 2010 for a one-year period during which time the pool will be reconstructed with an anticipated opening date of June 2011. We will also move forward in the near future on plans for the Environmental Education Center.
As for the athletic and neighborhood park improvements approved as part of the referendum, we hope that all projects can be completed within a 3-year period. Those projects that we feel will positively impact the safety of our parks and facilities will be our first priority.
Concurrent with the above, we plan to seek grant opportunities for major eligible projects. Again, thank you for your support and your vote of confidence.
