Vaccine appointments available
Arlington Heights residents can make appointments to receive H1N1 vaccines. The clinic will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Senior Center, 1802 W. Central Road.
Appointments can be made by calling (847) 253-5532 after 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, or by visiting the senior center. Only 500 injectable doses are available, said Mary Sterrenberg, supervising nurse in the Health Services Department. The demand will be re-evaluated after the holidays to see whether the village needs to request another supply of vaccines, she said.
This type of vaccine is approved only for ages 4 years and older. It is injectable and contains thimerosal. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by parents. Children under 10 years who need a booster dose must come with the date of the initial dose. There should be 28 days between the two doses.
