Blackberry Farm to get makeover

Fox Valley Park District has approved plans to update nits 40-year-old Blackberry Farm.

Plans include an enhanced entrance area that could be expanded and redesigned to accommodate gatherings and parties. More interactive areas are proposed near the concessions.

Play structures would include slides, ropes, a climbing wall and a self-powered train. Plans also call for a small water tower reminiscent of early pioneer days.

Pedal boat rentals, rope-guided rafts and fishing would be added to Lake Gregory.

The plans will be implemented in stages beginning in spring 2010.
