Free supper in Geneva:

The Third Tuesday supper today at the United Methodist Church of Geneva will feature ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans, hot fruit compote, rolls and Christmas cookies. Help give gifts:

The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps in St. Charles needs volunteers for its Christmas gift distribution. Volunteers will help patrons select gifts, restock toys and clothing, carry boxes of food to patrons' cars and clean up after the event, which is from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Concert at library:

A holiday concert of traditional and contemporary songs by the Festive Singers will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. Register at bataviapubliclibrary.org or call (630) 879-4777.

Holiday basketball camp:

St. Charles North High School will host its annual holiday basketball camp Dec. 29 and 30 at the school. For those in grades three through five, the camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. For those in seventh and eighth grades, the camp runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Preregistration for one day is $35 and $60 for both days. The walk-in fees are $40 for one day and $65 for two days. Yenchek named CEO:

Stephen A. Yenchek has been named president and chief executive officer of Friendship Senior Options, parent of Friendship Village of Schaumburg, the 15th largest continuing care retirement community in the nation and the largest in Illinois. Before his appointment, Yenchek served 12 years as the organization's chief operating officer and was named senior vice president in 2004. He was assigned responsibility in fall 2007 for directing development of GreenFields of Geneva, a new continuing care retirement community sponsored by Friendship Senior Options.

Census workers needed:

The U.S. Census Bureau's Chicago Regional Census Center is recruiting 100,000 people to work as census takers for the 2010 Census. Pay varies from $11.50 to $18.25 an hour. Most jobs last two to six weeks. Applicants are required to pass a basic skills test and undergo a background check. For testing times and locations, call (866) 861-2010.
