No injuries reported in Kildeer home fire

No one was injured in a bedroom fire in a Kildeer home that caused an estimated $45,000 in damage, officials said Monday.

Smoke was coming from a bedroom window of a two-story home in the 20000 block of Plumwood Drive when Long Grove Fire Protection District crews arrived about 6:46 p.m. Sunday, officials said in a news release.

A female inside the home escaped without injury, along with the woman's pets, officials said.

Firefighters doused the fire within minutes after they arrived, officials said, and ventilated the home to keep damage to a minimum.

The house was deemed uninhabitable Sunday because electricity was shut off for the night, officials said.
