Female Boy Scout leader denies sex with teen

BELLEVILLE -- A St. Clair County judge says a Boy Scout leader may stay free on bond after she pleaded not guilty to charges that accuse her of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Thirty-nine-year-old Wendy Rogers of O'Fallon was arraigned Thursday on a felony charge of criminal sexual assault.

Authorities have said Rogers and an underage Boy Scout were engaging in sex earlier this month when the youth's parents surprised them, then detained Rogers in their son's bedroom until police arrived to arrest her.

An attorney for Rogers says her client has no comment.

Rogers was a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 35 in O'Fallon since 2004. She was removed from the position after her arrest.
