McHenry Co. sheriff's office phone woes over

The McHenry County Government Center's phones are now working fine. The phones hadn't been working since a power outage occurred in the area at about 2:30 p.m. today, and officials were uncertain of the capacity of the sheriff's office's non-emergency number.

But the 911 number was working the whole time. The remaining phone lines all returned at about 9:30 p.m. The sheriff's non-emergency number is (815) 338-2144; in the event of an emergency, continue to dial 911.
