O'Hare lawsuits on Bensenville properties pushed forward

A hearing on an environmental lawsuit involving 600 properties in Bensenville near O'Hare International Airport Thursday was continued to Nov. 18 in DuPage County court.

It was an uneventful moment in a controversial case that could be near settlement.

The city of Chicago is seeking to raze homes and businesses in northeast Bensenville to make way for O'Hare expansion.

The village opposed condemnation proceedings and filed a lawsuit saying demolitions would be environmentally hazardous.

But new leaders in Bensenville have sought to negotiate a resolution to the case, which could come soon.

Another lawsuit involving St. Johannes Cemetery, which is located at the airport and in the path of a proposed new runway, was also continued to Nov. 18.
