Fundraiser for veterans' trip

The Batavia High School cheerleading teams are collecting money this month to send veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial. Everyone is invited to see the team's Flip and Fly at an open house at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the school. Donations also will be accepted at the door. Call (630) 406-9321 for more information.

Program on "Difficult Conversations"

The Tri-Cities branch of the American Association of University Women will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1145 N. Fifth Ave., St. Charles. The program will feature Terry Feinberg's insights on "Breaking Through Barriers: With Difficult Conversations." Feinberg, previously in charge of community development for the city of Indianapolis, specializes in assisting businesses and organizations in developing more positive work environments and employee relationships. Aurora police plan 5K race

The Aurora Police Department, in association with Special Olympics Illinois, Blackberry Farm and Fox Valley Park District, will stage its second annual Run for Athletes at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Blackberry Farm, 100 S. Decorate your tree

Scentimental Gardens, at 428 W. State St. in Geneva, will host a workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8 to create a miniature fresh tree decorated with embellished glass ornaments fresh-looking snow.
