Libertyville takes furlough day

All Libertyville village facilities, except for emergency police and fire and the Libertyville Sports Complex, will be closed Friday, Nov. 20. Emergency services will not be affected. The closure represents the first monthly furlough day to be taken by village personnel following a village board decision last week. The measure affects about 90 employees. Police and fire union and dispatch employees are not impacted. The furloughs are expected to save $120,000. The move is one of several measures taken by the board in recent months to offset dropping revenues. The village estimated it would be $952,000 short by April 30, the end of the current budget year, unless measures were taken.

Gurnee setting aquatic fees

Gurnee Park District officials are in the process of establishing fees for Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center for the 2010 season. In a report expected to be presented at a meeting Tuesday night, parks Executive Director Susie Kuruvilla says a 3 percent increase in season pass rates is under consideration. The park board will gather at the Viking Park meeting room, 4374 Old Grand Ave. The regular session is expected to start after a 6:45 p.m. truth-in-taxation hearing.
