Waukegan's Perillo enters race in 6th subcircuit

Waukegan attorney Michael Perillo has announced his candidacy for circuit judge in the Democratic primary in the 6th Judicial Subcircuit.

A partner in the firm of Noon, Perillo, Polenzani and Marks, Ltd., Perillo is a 1983 graduate of the New York Law School.

He served as a lawyer in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate Corps from 1983 until 1987 and was awarded the Navy commendation medal for outstanding service.

Perillo was a Lake County assistant public defender from 1988 until 1990, then served as an assistant state's attorney from 1990 until entering private practice in 1992.

The 6th judicial subcircuit covers Antioch, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, Hainesville, Old Mill Creek, Third Lake, Winthrop Harbor and parts of Fox Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights, Wadsworth and Zion.

Should Perillo advance to the November election, his likely Republican opponent will be current Circuit Judge Jorge Ortiz.

Judge appointed

Associate Judge Wallace Dunn has been named to the advisory board of the DePaul University College of Law Center for Jewish Law and Judaic Studies.

A 1965 DePaul University law school, Dunn was in private practice until his appointment to the bench in 1983.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed to this board," Dunn said. "I look forward to working with this panel of esteemed educators, rabbis and dignitaries.

The center is dedicated to the promotion of multidisciplinary education in Jewish law, philosophy, theology, history and culture.

Fundraiser set

The Lake County Court Special Advocates is hosting its annual fundraiser Nov. 7 at the Westin Chicago North Shore in Wheeling.

The group provides volunteer advocates who help abused children find permanent, safe homes and prepare reports for judges evaluating the life, needs and environment of the victims.

The event is called "Here's Looking at You, Kids," and tickets are $250 each.
