Aurora woman killed in early morning two-car accident
An Aurora woman was killed in a two-car crash Saturday morning near Geneva, authorities said.
Ayesha Danley, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
The driver of the other car, Francis G. Francisco, 33, of Aurora was injured in the crash and taken to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, where he was listed in good condition, police reported. No one else was in either car.
The crash occurred in Geneva Township on the Kirk Road bridge between Route 38 and Cherry Lane near the Kane County Cougars stadium. The road was closed to traffic for several hours.
Police reported that an initial investigation indicates that a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Francisco was traveling south on Kirk Road and crossed over the center median about 7:30 a.m., striking a northbound 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by Danley.
Francisco was ticketed with going too fast for conditions, sheriff's police reported in a news release.
Investigators had not been able to interview Francisco as of Saturday afternoon, according to sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler.
He said slippery pavement because of weather conditions may have been a contributing factor. Police continue to investigate the accident's cause.
