Suspicious vehicle reported in West Dundee
West Dundee police are investigating a suspicious incident Tuesday afternoon near Dundee Highlands Elementary School.
In a news alert, police said two 8-year-old girls were playing on the steps of the school just after 3 p.m. Tuesday when a woman in a blue or gray car headed south on 5th Street near Lisa Road, stopped and yelled at the girls from across the parkway to help her find a missing puppy.
The children did not respond to the request and immediately ran home to tell their parents.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle, which they described as having a rectangular rear end and long rectangular taillights.
Police described the woman as in her 60s with dark orange curly hair that covered her collar and pearl-style earrings.
Police are trying to determine if the person was simply trying to find her puppy or if the incident is more than it appears, the police release said.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Dundee police at (847) 551-3810.
