Fire to battle Real Salt Lake
Real Salt Lake at Fire
When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Toyota Park
TV: Channel 50
Scouting the Fire: The Fire (7-5-3, 24 points) gets central defender Bakary Soumare back from a suspension due to yellow card accumulation, but it loses last Saturday's hero, John Thorrington, and Gonzalo Segares for the same reason this week. Its depth at forward and the wing midfielder spots recently took a hit when reserve Calen Carr was lost for the season with a torn ACL. The Fire really needs to get some momentum going into the second half of the season.
Scouting Real Salt Lake: Not many would have expected coach Jason Kreis' team to be atop the Western Conference at this point, but Real Salt Lake (6-6-5, 23 points) is having its best season yet. Athletic goalkeeper Nick Rimando is tied for the league lead with 6 shutouts. New midfielder Javier Morales is the key to the RSL attack.
Next game: All-Star Game, Thursday at Toronto.
