Republicans fell asleep at the wheel

I think it's time to stop blaming the Democrats for the state of our economy.

Despite his "proofs" of Democratic malfeasance, Cal Thomas (Daily Herald, Oct. 7) should wake up to reality. He conveniently ignores that fact that the Republicans have run the country for the past eight years and have had substantial majorities in both houses of Congress for six out of the past eight years.

The administration and Republican controlled Congress have given numerous socialist subsidies and tax breaks to corporate America at the expense of the middle class.

In the past two years, the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate were not enough to overcome the Republicans attempts to block meaningful legislation.

Let's put the blame where it should be: with the current administration and its Republican controlled Congress, both of which were asleep at the wheel.
