Bank robber known as 'Time Bandit' apprehended
The FBI says agents have arrested a suburban Chicago man they believe to be the "Time Bandit," who was allegedly responsible for robbing at least 11 banks.
According to the FBI, Scott Carlberg of Orland Park was charged Wednesday with one count of bank robbery for holding up a TCF Bank branch in New Lenox on February 2, 2007.
The person wanted in a string of bank robberies in the Chicago area was dubbed the "Time Bandit" because of his method of escape. He demanded employees of the banks he robbed count to 300 before calling police.
The FBI says Carlberg was linked to the robbery of the TCF Bank branch in New Lenox by two bills with prerecorded serial numbers left in a storage locker the FBI traced to him. Also, DNA found on items at the locker matched profiles of Carlberg.
