The audience will have a ball at Carmel's staging of 'Cinderella'
Carmel Catholic High School students will take the stage this weekend to perform "Cinderella's Glass Slipper," a comical remake of the classic fairy tale. Denise Sebastiano, the school's director of dramatic arts, tells us what you need to know.
Q. What type of play is this?
A. This show, a comedy with some musical numbers, will appeal to people of all ages. I guarantee everyone will enjoy these two hours of live theater complete with music and magical entertainment.
Q. Tell us what you know about the author, and the history behind this play.
A. This a play by Vera Moss from Pioneer Drama.
Q. What's the appeal of doing this play from your point of view?
A. The appeal is making people laugh. This show is great for all ages. It's interactive, and the students love being creative. This play gives us the opportunity to be creative.
Q. What makes this play fabulous?
A. The costumes, set and magic of childhood imagination. It welcomes interaction from the audience with a spell by the Fairy Godmother. We also have seven European royal ladies who try to win the heart of the prince as well as the stepsisters.
Q. Without giving too much away, is there a "don't miss" moment, and when does it come?
A. The transformation of Cinderella, the cat and mouse into a beautiful young girl going to the grand ball in a pumpkin carriage complete with horse and footman. Also, the shoe fitting scene is hilarious.
