Acting to help kids with challenges
Boys and girls in fifth to eighth grade are invited to take part in a six-week Saturday drama class, "Working it Out Through Drama and Play," beginning Saturday, Nov. 7, The class will be presented by NOVO/Renewing Joy in Life of Geneva.
Through scripted drama and improvisation, kids will work out challenges whether coping with parents' divorce, problems at school, making friends, or learning to cope with feelings. At the conclusion of the class Saturday, Dec. 12, participants will present a play for parents and family members.
The class is led by NOVO facilitator Christina Kolski who also works with Chicago Public Schools as a school social worker. Kolski specializes in drama therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with children and adolescents.
"Working it Out" will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Nov. 7 through Dec. 12, with no class on Nov. 28, at NOVO/Renewing Joy in Life 501 W. State St., Suite 204 in Geneva, in the Private Bank building.
