Algonquin man charged with raping housekeeper

A 56-year-old Algonquin man is free on $100,000 bond after his arrest Friday on allegations he sexually assaulted a housekeeper.

Andrew Spanier, of the 0-100 block of Hartford Court, faces charges of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse in connection with claims made against him last month by a Crystal Lake woman who worked for him.

Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Ed Urban said Monday the woman alleged Spanier attacked her in his home Oct. 9. After an investigation, police arrested Spanier on Friday, Urban said.

Spanier's next court date was not immediately available Monday. The charges against him are Class 1 and Class 4 felonies, the more serious punishable by a maximum four to 15 years in prison.
