Judson's Dean an NCCAA All-American
Judson University sophomore Rachel Dean turned in a time of 18:39 at the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association cross country championships on Saturday, which earned her a third-place finish in a field of 134 runners. With her third-place finish, Dean was also named an NCCAA All-American.
Fellow sophomore Kim Peek also competed, turning in a time of 19:36 which was good enough for 26th place.
Dean and Peek will return to action next weekend at the NAIA National meet in Washington.
Women's basketball
St. Mary of the Wood College 89, Judson University 85: The Eagles (0-3) played St. Mary's evenly through 40 minutes of play, despite shooting a dismal 33 percent from the floor, but eventually fell in overtime. Alicia Rovertoni paced Judson with her 22nd career double-double adding 16 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Ima Petion recorded a career-high 22 points while Rachel McBride also registered a career-high with 11 rebounds.
Illinois Valley CC 60, Elgin CC 56: The Spartans came up just short as they fell on the road to Illinois Valley Community College. Tracy Ferguson and Lauren Gabler led the Spartans offensively scoring 18 and 14 points respectively. Sophie Sterricker just missed double-digits adding 9 points while Brittany Armato and Krissy Kunavich chipped in 6 points each.
Men's basketball
Marian College 82, Judson University 70: The Eagles (1-3) dropped their third straight game Saturday afternoon failing to Marian College at the Bethel College Tournament. The difference proved to come from the free-throw line as Judson committed 26 fouls on the night, sending Marian players to the charity stripe 43 times in which 34 of those attempts were successful. Josh Edwards paced the Eagles with 24 points. Marious Lobdell and Landon Skinner also recorded double digits with 17 and 13 points respectively.
