Rickert retains Kane Treasurer post

Longtime Kane County Treasurer David Rickert appeared to win a sixth term Tuesday with unofficial results showing Rickert well ahead of Democratic challenger Jason Snelson.

Rickert, a Republican, amassed 84,082 votes compared to 73,275 for Snelson with 266 out of 291 precincts reporting.

Rickert campaigned on his 20 years of experience, noting steady leadership during the Great Recession and responsiveness to a crush of people prepaying property taxes in 2017 as reasons for another term. Snelson campaigned on providing a fresh voice to the office and stressed his private sector experience.
