Roadwork starts today
Beginning Monday, Nov. 9, the Kane County Transportation Department will conduct a geotechnical investigation at Keslinger Road, west of Bunker Road, in anticipation of bridge replacement. The work will require a single lane closure and minor delays are expected. Flaggers will direct traffic, and the work should take at least two days. Write to servicemen
Learn to write letters to servicemen at a Brown Bag Lunch at noon Tuesday, Nov. 10, featuring Sarah Giachino, co-chairman of Fox Valley Troop Support Inc. She also will explain how to send care packages. The lunch is at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. Admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for center members and children. Presentation for parents
Parents are invited to a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 that focuses on healthy and unhealthy youth development, addiction and prevention. Dan Davis, executive director and cofounder of Youth Education Society Inc., will speak. The free presentation will be held at Geneva Middle School North, 1357 Viking Drive.
Veterans to be honored
At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, Heritage Woods senior living facility in Batavia, 1079 E. Wilson St., will have a ceremony honoring veterans, including a 45-minute performance by a Batavia High School choir and orchestra. The public is invited to attend.

The Delnor Auxiliary will host "The Diamond Celebration: A Past to Cherish, A Promise to Fulfill" ball Saturday at the St. Charles Country Club, 1250 Country Club Road. Tickets are $175 each.
