Bravo to Foster on health care vote

I'd like to thank Rep. Bill Foster for his vote on H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act. This is a historic moment in America, and Rep. Foster was on the right side of history.

It is high time that the American taxpayer's tax dollar is spent here, for affordable health care, infrastructure renewal, education.

Although Republicans decry H.R. 3962's price tag, they fail to acknowledge the price of uninsured in emergency rooms and hospitals, families forced to choose between antibiotics for their child's ear pain and food or gas for their car, and the elderly who face the same miserable choices when they fall into the Bush administration's pharmaceutical company-engineered "doughnut hole."

Capitalism works for many things and market forces are useful in many industries, but capitalism has not served the taxpayer well in the arena of health care. It is well past time for a new paradigm - one in which we behave like the first-world country we are and value the health and welfare of all of our citizens.
