Soccer players' goal to 'Pack the Pantries'
Players for FC Barrington and FCX travel soccer teams will be conducting a preholiday food drive Saturday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 22.
The project, "Pack the Pantries," will be staged outside the Barrington Jewel-Osco 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Donations will be collected at the Lake Zurich Jewel-Osco from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Before entering the store, Jewel-Osco patrons will be asked to consider purchasing one or more food or household items which will then be collected as shoppers leave the store. All donations will benefit our local area food pantries.
Approximately 400 travel soccer players ages 7 to 18 will participate in this club-wide community service project. It offers the boys and girls of FCB and FCX the opportunity to be actively involved in helping their community and to express their positive spirit toward neighbors and village somewhere other than on the soccer field.
