Pianist Brown to perform at Elgin church
A special concert event by renowned pianist Huntley Brown will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 at Highland Fellowship Church, 2250 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin. The concert will benefit a project of the Sierra Leone Agape Voluntary Effort (SAVE Inc.) in Sierra Leone, West Africa. It is a registered USA nonprofit organization.
Brown has performed on television, radio and in concert in more than 30 countries and is currently the pianist for Ruth Graham and Friends Ministries. He received the Top Caribbean Gospel Instrumentalist Award in 2005 and 2006. A native of Jamaica, Brown is a Judson University alumni and currently resides in Aurora.
The SAVE project to benefit is the effort to "adopt one major village," in this case, Kenema Vaboi, 150 miles southwest of Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. The goal is to provide a water well, generator, and water purifier and other essentials for the village.
The cost to attend the concert is free but an offering will be taken. Information may be found at savesierraleone.org. Information on Huntley Brown may be found at huntleybrown.com.
