Reverse turn law and dump cameras

There appears much controversy regarding these cash cows for local governments who emphatically say these contraptions are for safety purposes only. Who is suffering?

The taxpayer pays the fine, sometimes unjustly, he funds the cost of purchasing, installing, maintaining the equipment and the employee who monitors, sends out the tickets and processes the cash. If Red light right turns really do cause safety problems, why did they pass the law a few years ago to allow the practice? Was it to allow us to go nowhere in a few more seconds?

The solution appears simple to me, as in the past no more right turns allowed at red light intersections.

Safety issued solved. Taxpayer costs eliminated, no more cost of purchasing, installing and maintaining the photo enforcement equipment, many many irate taxpayers would be happy and safe.

It is all about safety and saving money, Right?
