Miller goes hunting for television work
Bulls center Brad Miller is starring in a new show on the Sportsman Channel called, "Country Boys Outdoors." The program will debut Friday at 6:30 p.m., with several repeats throughout the week.
The basic theme is Miller and co-host Jon Brunson go hunting in each episode. A preview on the channel's Web site includes Miller wearing full camouflage and toting a large gun. It also shows highlights from Miller's days with the Sacramento Kings, which ended last February.
Among the animals featured on the promo are turkey, deer, elk, buffalo, geese and bear. To find out how many of them will meet their demise on the show, you'll have to tune in. The Sportsman Channel is available on Comcast, DirecTv and AT&T U-verse, usually on a premium sports platform.
Speaking of Miller, coach Vinny Del Negro offered this backhanded compliment of the veteran center's contributions to training camp.
"Brad obviously hasn't been successful in this league because of his unbelievable athleticism," Del Negro joked. "He knows how to get open, knows how to use his body, knows the tricks of the trade after all these years he's played."
Gray area at center: The Bulls should have plenty of big bodies to start the season, but will miss third-year center Aaron Gray, expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a stress fracture in his left fibula.
"I feel bad for Aaron," coach Vinny Del Negro said Wednesday. "He's had a productive summer. We hate to lose him. It would have been a great time for him to get some experience under his belt in exhibition season. Now he's just got to condition himself and try to stay in the best shape he can."
Bull horns: Coach Vinny Del Negro canceled the final scheduled day of double sessions and went with just one practice on Wednesday. - Luol Deng sat out Tuesday's evening practice to rest his right shin, which is recovering from a stress fracture. He participated in Wednesday's single workout.
