Money raised for Gee family survivors

BEASON -- An effort is underway to raise $15,000 for surviving members of a family murdered last month.

The Rev. Dayle Badman of Beason United Methodist Church says the money will help survivors of Raymond and Ruth Gee family with funeral expenses and medical bills. Badman says she is in the process of working with others to determine when and how the money will be distributed.

Prosecutors have offered no explanation for the murder of Raymond and Ruth Gee and three of their children. Christopher Harris, the ex-husband of one of Gee's daughters, is charged with their murders, as is his brother, Jason Harris.

Badman says disbursing the money may be complicated because Tabitha Gee and her disabled sister, Jessica, are in the custody of the state Department of Children and Family Services.
