Hersey fun day, walk-a-thon honors sophomore
On Sunday, Oct. 25, the Hersey High School Fine Arts Department and student council will sponsor Shea's Crusaders' Family Fun Day and Walk-a-thon to benefit CureSearch and Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
The event was inspired by sophomore Shea Anderluh, who is in treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The event takes place 1-5 p.m. at Goins Stadium at Hersey campus at 1900 E. Thomas St., Arlington Heights, or in the field house in case of rain. Besides the walk-a-thon, activities include a live band, student music group performances, games, a moonwalk, magicians and raffles.
CureSearch is a partner with the Children's Oncology Group, the world's largest childhood cancer research organization, and with the National Childhood Cancer. Bear Necessities supports children with cancer through its Small Miracles program.
Registration for the event is $5 or $20 for families of four or more. For more information, go to jhhs.d214.org/activities/FinePerformingArts.
